WordPress Development

WordPress is excellent when it is treated as a platform to build on and painful when it is treated as a pile of plugins. Most of the WordPress problems I am asked to fix come from the second approach: twenty overlapping plugins, a page builder holding the layout together, and nobody willing to press update.

Custom themes and blocks

Themes built from your design, with editable content exposed through custom fields and blocks so the marketing team can change copy without touching layout. No 3 MB theme framework carrying features the site will never use.

Custom functionality instead of plugin sprawl

When a requirement is specific to your business, a small purpose-built plugin is usually lighter, faster and safer than a general-purpose one with forty settings. It also means the code does exactly what you asked for, and only that.

Performance and cleanup

Auditing what actually loads on each page, removing overlapping plugins, fixing database bloat, sorting out caching and image handling, and cutting render-blocking assets. The goal is a site that loads quickly on a mid-range phone on mobile data, which is how most visitors will see it.

Rescue, migration and hardening

Sites that break after an update, sites with no staging environment, sites that need to move host or domain without losing search rankings, and sites that have been compromised. This work starts with a full backup and a way back, before anything is changed.

Questions

What clients usually ask first

If your question is not here, ask it directly — a short answer up front saves both of us time.

Do you use page builders?

I work with Elementor when a site already uses it or when the team needs to build pages themselves. For anything performance-critical or heavily custom, hand-built templates with editable fields are faster and far easier to maintain.

Can you fix a site another developer built?

Yes. I take a full backup, work on a staging copy, document what I find, and agree the fix order with you before changing anything on the live site.

Will updates break the custom work?

They should not. Custom code goes in child themes and plugins using documented hooks and filters — never edits to WordPress core or to a third-party plugin's files, which is the usual cause of things breaking on update.
